3.Liga: Round 5

The 3.Liga is off to the races, with five rounds already completed. At the top, Unterhaching and Osnabrück are out of the blocks, with a perhaps stabilized Bielefeld looking good early.

The mini Stuttgart derby ended with a thumping win for the newly promoted Kickers.

Attendance was pretty decent this round (at least for 3.Liga standards). There are several attractive venues, and even the B squads of Stuttgart and Dortmund had respectable numbers this weekend.

The 3 relegated clubs have had mixed results. Aachen was doing fine, but stubbed their toe in the battle of ex-Bundesligists, despite a large home crowd. The Tivoli still draws them in despite Alemannia’s travails. Rostock has some work to do if they want to battle for re-promotion. Karlsruhe continues the mess from the 2.Liga relegation, and have yet to win a match.

Things ghave completely gone haywire for tailend Erfurt. They certainly expected to contend, but their poor start might have already put them out. 12 points down after only 5 matches pretty much makes promotion unlikely.
