The biggest news is 1. FC Köln’s continued sucking. This legendary club is not yout typical elevator or Bundesligist fallen on hard times. 3x German champion and a constant force int post-WWII German football. But this season is turning into a nightmare, from crap play, horrible finances and idiotic “fan” behaviour. The Geissböcke hoped to right the ship and another early season struggler, Union Berlin. A packed Alte Försterei witnessed a hard fought, high pace match. Both sides looked vastly improved as they desperately sought their first win. In the end, crappy defending did in the Kölners as they slump to penultimate place in the table. Huge win for Union, getting off the relegation bottom.

In a battle of contenders, Kaiserslautern hosted Hertha, and was somewhat lucky to get a draw. The Berliners look to have recovered from their slow start, and controlled most of the match, however continue to waste chances. FCK was never able to put their stamp on this hard fought and hot tempered match. (7 yellow cards in the first 3 minutes)

Cottbus stole the points in Regensburg thanks to a GK blunder at the start. Hosts Jahn totally outplayed Energie, but the Lausitzer grimly defended their lead to the bitter end. Luck and poor shooting certainly played a role, as Regensburg hit the woodwork 3 times and wasted all their opportunities. This type of grind-em-out match is what has made Cottbus go up to the Bundesliga on two occasions already, so this could be another elevator ride up…

The “Battle of Lions” in München either demonstrated that Braunschweig is legit, or once again 1860 will deceive their fans. The leaders were in firm control for much of the match, and 1860 was fortunate to equalize. EB pressed hard for the win, but at least the home side was able to stave off what would have been a disastrous defeat.

FSV Frankfurt continues their dream start, continuing to collect valuable points. Previous seasons have been relegation dogfights, so the Bornheimers certainly want every point they can get. The match with St.Pauli was basically even, but FSV was more accurate in their chances, hence another amazing win. St.Pauli will be kicking themselves for not saving a point, and almost look out of any promotion race.

Paderborn got back on track with a dominating win over Sandhausen. SCP applied pressure from the the start, and the newly promoted side cracked in the 2nd half.

Dresden’s hopes of perhaps getting into the action were ruined when Ingolstadt dropped a a bomb on them.
FCI has been tough on the road, and despite a strong Dynamo performance, deserve their win.

Aalen got their first ever 2.Liga home win, as they upended Aue and secure themselves a solid mid table position.

Oh my god, Ruhr derby between two stinkers, Duisburg and Bochum, certainly that’s what I was thinking. But actually, both clubs made a strong effort, the Zebras not really looking totally crap, and even Bochum showing that there’s some life in them. Of course, they both still suck, since they can’t score goals…thus a perfect result.
