Champions League: All good

All remaining Bundesliga clubs advanced to the knockout stages with positive results.

Bayern München actually was a bit shaky, but managed a 1-1 draw at Valencia to book their ticket. Thomas Müller saved the draw, as Bayern had a rough time despite a man advantage. Valencia by no means played defensively, and generated some decent chances.

Borussia Dortmund ripped Ajax Amsterdam 4-1 away with a gala-performance. Mario Götze was outstanding, involved in all four goals. The Neons basically ran the counter-attack to perfection and were deadly with their finishing.

Schalke defeated Olympiakos Piraeus 1-0 to advance. A long blast from Christian Fuchs was enough for the Blues.

So with all clubs advancing, so far so good for the Bundesliga. Let’s hope they can continue so Germany racks up more points in the UEFA standings.

  1. Read somewhere that Klaas van Huntelaar might transfer to Arsenal in the winter transfer period. If this is true it will really affect Schalke. Any idea’s if theres any substance to it. Could Arsenal accommodate him?

    • Schalke will probably lose a few good players this / after this season for they’re not at top level with Bayern and Dortmund and have huge debts (I think the highest in Budesliga by far). Huntelaar is certainly the offensive gem here and will be hard to replace.
