Bielefeld is the 3.Liga Herbstmeister (“Fall champion”). Means nothing of course, basically just the leader at the official half-way mark. Indeed, since there are another 3 rounds until the winterbreak, you could argue that being in the lead before hibernation is more important. Of course, things remain very tight at the top, although some of the contending sides had poor results, which means it will take a couple of rounds to climb back into contention for them.
Arminia dominated against promoted side Grossaspach, and probably could have had a few more goals. They go top because Dortmund-II held erstwhile leaders Preußen Münster to a draw.
Cottbus used a minimalist approach to get points at Stuttgart. Energie remains in a playoff spot, and has been looking fairly strong recently.
A big match in Duisburg, and the Zebras managed to dump Wehen. After a slow first period, both teams raised their game and went for the win.
A huge eastern clash in Rostock, and Dresden came out the winner thanks to a hat-trick from Matthias Fetsch. Dynamo looked the better team, and Hansa is in a real crisis.
Fortuna Köln got the points in a huge relegation battle with Regensburg. Fortuna has been playing well recently, and strictly speaking wasn’t threatened with the drop, but the club and coach Uwe Koschinat have been approaching every match as a vital battle to preserve their first 3.Liga season. The win seems to be in order, as Regensburg showed little. Jahn looks like they’re out of touch and it will take a monumental effort to avoid the drop.
Osnabrück saw their 7 match unbeaten streak end, ironically at Halle, who have been one of the weaker home sides. Chemnitz dropped out of contention for a while, as they were stunned at home by Mainz-II
