Bayern München beat Olympique Marseille 2-0 in the first round of the Champions League tie in France. This makes it pretty likely that Bayern will advance to the semi-finals. Overall, Bayern was clearly the better team, although GK Manuel Neuer had to be sharp early in the match when OM got some excellent chances. However goals by Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben put down the hosts, and underscored Bayern’s dominance. Somewhat surprising is that the Stade Velodrome was only half full, around 32,000 in attendance.
