KSV Baunatal

This small club was founded in 1914, and has just under 500 members. The high point of it's existence has to be the mid 1970s, when they managed to play in the 2.Bundesliga for about 3 seasons.

OK, the above is not completely true. In reality, the Kultur und Sport Verein is quite large, with some 5,200 members participating in 42 divisions. It just happens to be that soccer is the only important one, that's where the "500" and "1914" comes from. :)

The roots actually go back to 1892, when a gymnastics club Gut Heil was founded. The soccer section came into life in 1914, and various other local organizations joined forces. By 1964, KSV Altenritte and KSV Altenbauna merged to form the new KSV Baunatal. In 1970, SV Baunatal was absorbed as well, to form the current club.

The highpoint of success was probably the late 1970s, when they managed to play in the 2.Liga for three years.
