This small village club (approx. 240 members) has established itself at the top level of regional amateur play.
The roots of the club go back to 1912, when about 20 teenagers decided to form a soccer club, named Viktoria. They borrowed some money and charged a monthly membership of 5 pfennigs. They used to play on empty fields, when they were not being chased away by local farmers. The goal posts were too heavy, so they were cut up in pieces to enable flight easier. When their only soccer ball got flat, a local pastor gave 9.50 Gold marks to buy a new ball, and to general applause of the club, only charged them half the amount. WW-I brought an end to play, and at least three of the players died in battle.
In 1921 the club joined a formal league (they started in the C-Klasse) and changed the name to Borussia. More importantly, they switched the club pub to the Gasthaus Dohmen, as the pub owner gave them a permanebt field that was used as the playing ground until 1949 (when the current park was built.) The club suffered in WW-II, as 42 members were killed.
Up until the 1970s, Borussia kicked around down in the leagues, usually in the Kreisliga or lower, 9th-10th divisions. However, they established themselves in the Bezirksliga (7th division) by 1979, and began the most successful growth in club history. In 1991 they were promoted to the Landesliga, and by 1992, they were already playing in the Verbandsliga. The stay in the Oberliga represents the pinnacle of achievement
