Itzehoer SV Itzehoer SV Another small regional club from western Schleswig-Holstein.
The origins of the club go back to 1909, when the fore-runner FC Preußen Itzehoe was started. After WW-II, they were joined by VfL Eintracht and SC Askania to restart the club. Since the British military authorities nixed the "Preußen" moniker, the members decided upon Itzehoer SV. The club turned out to be fairly strong, as they were joined by several players from the defunct east Prussian club VfB Königsberg. But this didn't prove to help much, as they only managed a single season in the old Oberliga Nord.
Despite the odds, the club managed to stave off relegation in the original Regionalliga until the last season. Since then, the club has remained firmly in the regional amateur leagues.
