SV Lurup Hamburg

Another small Hamburg club that at times has flirted with higher levels. Founded somewhere around 1923, I would guess. In the early 1980s, they had a "sugardaddy" in a local building contractor, who provided lots of funds for his favorite club. Lurup even took part in the 2.Liga promotion playoffs, along with St.Pauli. However, they finished last, and soon afterwards their sponsor apparently lost interest. The club then began a decline, and seem destined to remain in the 3rd-4th-5th division range.
