This club was founded in 1933 as Post SV Recklinghausen for post office employees. However, the soccer section wasn't officially started until 1961. In 1972, Post merged with Blau-Weiß Nord Recklinghausen, which itself had only started in 1958.
After a decent Oberliga run, Blau-Weiß withdrew mid-season in 1999 and joined the Bezirksliga (7th division), eventually falling further.
