SC Weimar

The city of Goethe, Schiller and the Republic failed to produce a half-way decent soccer team.

The original SC Weimar was founded back in 1903, but never amounted to much. It did have around 1,000 members by 1925. It was dissolved in 1945. The club was restarted soon afterwards as SG Weimar-Ost and eventually became BSG Turbine in 1950. This was then annexed by BSG Lokomotive in 1954. In 1961, the affiliation again changed, and the club became BSG Motor Weimar, which it remained throughout the GDR years.

After reunification, in an attempt to establish a longer pedigree, the name SC Weimar was revived.

Originally built in 1921. Covered stands were built in 1926, but destroyed by a storm in 1999. They were rebuilt in 2004.
