The critical rematch for the World Cup 2002 Qualifier was totally dominated by the DFB squad. Michael Ballack had a superb agme, and by scoring early removed an nervousness the Germans may have had. The followup score by Oliver Neuville essentially put the game on ice, and the Germans romped home to victory.

Prior to the match, there was concern over the Ukrainian superstar forward, Andrij Shevchenko, but he was pretty much held in check until a worthless consolation goal at the end.
