n a total crap performance Germany lost 1-2 to Croatia. The DFB squad disappointed across the board, with only
midfielder Torsten Frings and Lukas Podolski (another goal) having acceptable performance. Bastian Schweinsteiger even
managed to get his ass red-carded in the last minute. The defense once again was embarassing, with Christoph Metzelder
and Marcel Jansen disgracing themselves. A good effort by Croatia, but the big story is how lame Germany was. The only
positive news is that Austria drew Poland 1-1 due to a last minute penalty. This means as long as Germany can at least
get a draw against hosts Austria, they will advance to the second round. In that case they would face Portugal, and
potentially get their asses kicked.
