3.Liga, Round 32: Big round for Kiel

Round 32, Apr 10-12

Although they were hardly impressive, Holstein Kiel turned out to be a big winner this weekend. The Storks defeated Mainz-II minimally, but other contenders lost, giving them some cushion in the promotion race. Despite some advantages, Kiel could only pull out a penalty for the win against a side battling against relegation.

Stuttgarter Kickers lost ground as they were dumped in Rostock. Hansa has been playing themselves out of relegation and are now close to security.

MSV Duisburg had a hard time, but were able to leap over the Kickers with a win at Stuttgart-II.

Preußen Münster was another contender that was wounded. The Eagles lost at home to Chemnitz, and really can’t complain too much, as CFC was solid and smarter.

Cottbus continues to flounder, as they were unable to defeat Fortuna Köln. The visitors were happy with the point, which pretty much puts them into safety.

Dresden has been terrible, so it’s a bit ironic that they finally broke their horror streak of 8 losses in 9 matches by defeating leaders Bielefeld in a hard fought match.
Halle is making a late season run that might give them some small chances to play in the promotion sweepstakes. HFC won their 4th in 5 matches, winning at Erfurt, who have dropped like a stone.

Großaspach got a huge away win at Wehen, giving them some additional cushion over the drop zone.

Dortmund-II won a huge match against Unterhaching, which allowed them to jump over the mini-Münch(en)kins. It gives them a chance to stay up in the fierce relegation battle, which looks like its now down to 4 teams, only one of which survives.
